Optima 217 plus offers a range of double glazing configurations within a single slimline system. Different thicknesses of glass can be accommodated to deliver a solution that meets your acoustic specification and your budget. It has the added flexibility of being able to incorporate integral blinds for privacy due to an aluminium hidden mullion that sits within the glazing cavity.
If deflection isn’t required then a standard aluminium head section 25mm deep x 54mm wide can be specified. However, Optima 217 plus can accommodate an extruded aluminium deflection head, featuring a 65mm deep lower section for deflection requirements up to +/-25mm.
The aluminium base channel is 25mm deep, with either tapered floor angles or clip-in glazing beads.
In order to comply with Optima’s recommended partition stiffness criteria, we advise that maximum mullions centres should be 1350mm. Glass panels can be up to 3000mm high using a combination of 6mm and 10mm thick glass, subject to site logistics, but we would advise you to contact our Technical Team to discuss your individual requirements.
Optima 217 plus incorporates an aluminium mullion which sits discreetly within the glazing cavity and allows the integration of 25mm solid or perforated slat tilt-only blinds. A clear PETG dry joint retains the glass in position.
Optima 217 plus can accommodate a variety of glass thicknesses to suit the acoustic rating that you need to achieve. As with all of our products, the system is laboratory tested for acoustic performance in a UKAS accredited laboratory and full test reports are available upon request.
The system can achieve a minimum of Rw40dB with 6mm toughened glass + 10mm toughened glass and a maximum of Rw43dB with 6.4mm acoustic laminated glass + 10.8mm acoustic laminated glass.
The acoustic test is conducted on a full height, multi-module screen with glazing joints and perimeter track-work; not simply a ‘window’ in a smaller sized opening. Testing samples using the latter method will generally give an artificially higher acoustic rating result and any results obtained in this way should be treated with great caution.
The Optima 217 plus system can accommodate a wide range of glazed and solid door sets from our standard range.
