A new chapter began for a leading marine underwriter with its move into a new headquarters at 155 Bishopsgate, London. Designed by MCM Architecture and delivered by BW:Workplace Experts, the sixth-floor workspace offers expansive views across Spitalfields and creates a modern environment that reflects the company’s global identity while celebrating its heritage. After 40 years in its previous location, the vision was clear: build a future-proof office that fosters collaboration, wellbeing, and community.

Key design objectives were to:
Deliver high acoustic performance for privacy and comfort
Enhance connections between collaborative and focused work areas
Reinforce the global brand identity through a timeless aesthetic
Incorporate sustainable materials for a responsible, future-focused fit-out
Sustainability sat at the heart of the project, and Optima’s systems aligned with these goals by:
Using Hydro CIRCAL® 75R aluminium and recyclable materials
Designing demountable and re-usable systems for long-term adaptability
Developing enhanced glass solutions that deliver superior acoustics with less material
Optimising natural light to reduce reliance on artificial lighting and improve wellbeing
Optima’s design approach balanced flexibility, function, and aesthetics:
Optima 117 Plus Single-glazed Partitions – seamless, light-filled meeting rooms with discreet joints and excellent acoustic comfort.
Revolution 54 Double-glazed Partitions – natural light, privacy, and high acoustic performance in one refined solution.
Edge Symmetry Double-glazed Doors – sleek integration with partitions for a cohesive look and superior sound insulation.
Bespoke Manifestations – distinctive branding elements that provide visual privacy in busy areas.
The completed 20,000 sq. ft. office stands as a modern, energising workplace that unites the organisation’s heritage with its global identity. Optima’s systems played a pivotal role in shaping this dynamic environment by delivering the right balance of openness, privacy, and sustainability. By aligning with the project vision, the office empowers employees, supports collaboration, and showcases a forward-looking brand identity.
