Fire rated glass partitions at Aviva’s new Hoxton Square offices

Located on one of the oldest squares in London, Aviva’s new office is a hub for their fast-growing digital branch. The insurance company have completed the refurbishment of the first building of their growing campus of offices in Hoxton Square. Installed throughout, our glass partitions create a contemporary industrial design that seamlessly merges the building’s existing features with the new. Alongside architects TTSP and main contractor 8 Build Limited, we helped build a collection of unique spaces designed to support the various digital workstyles within the office.

Fire safety at the heart of the design

Fire safety was a crucial design requirement throughout the insurance companies’ new creative workspace. With this in mind, we installed our fire rated glazed partitions and doors across each of the four floors. As you walk through the doors at Hoxton Square you are greeted by an open, New York loft-style lobby. Our Technishield 65 glass door with side screen seamlessly separates the lobby area from the contemporary café, offering visual privacy. In order to achieve this sense of privacy Project Manager, Andrew Prosser and his team installed a reeded manifestation across the entire screen. As a result, it allows light to flow into the space whilst maintaining a sense of privacy between the two spaces. Furthermore, the Technishield door and screen provide a high performing fire solution which also adds to the visual of the office.

Installed with our slimline Shoreditch framework these fire screens enrich the rustic aesthetic running throughout the office. Unique to this design, a horizontal black strip manifestation was also applied to one side of the glass. As a result, the strip divides the screens in four, creating a distinctive design feature that further enhances the industrial look of the project. On the third floor, our Technishield 65 single door leaf and fire screen overlook the auditorium. Delivering as standard, 30 minutes integrity and insulation, this steel framed door therefore meets the visual and practical demands of the office.

Glass partitions combine the old and the new

In addition, Aviva wanted to create a space that preserved the existing building, intertwining it within the new design. Our glass partitions work perfectly offering a transition between the old and new elements of the building. Therefore, we installed our Optima 117 Plus Shoreditch Edition single glazed partitions, giving a striking industrial aesthetic to the design. Installed extensively, this system can achieve up to Rw33dB with 12mm toughened glass, offering a good level of acoustic performance as well as an attractive design feature. Creating a variety of meeting rooms and private workspaces, this system delivers the ideal solution for harmonious working.

Furthermore, the integration of our stunning Shoreditch glass partitioning system enhances the industrial style throughout the office. Featuring a black powder-coated aluminium framework which is bonded to the glass, this system delivers an attractive rustic aesthetic. As a result, it retains structural stability and impressive acoustic performance whilst maximising the amount of natural light throughout. Moreover, the elegant combination of new and old is enriched with the installation of our Shoreditch Edition Edge Symmetry door. This single glazed door not only provides significant acoustic privacy, achieving up to Rw35dB, but it also offers an elegant addition to the design. Installed with Shoreditch bars also, this dynamic, acoustic glass door completes the industrial aesthetic, tying the design together perfectly.
