McLellan Works recently carried out a major refurbishment of the iconic Breckenridge House. Situated in one of Glasgow’s most elegant buildings McLellan will occupy the entire block which will serve as a home for creative SME’s as well as several food and retail outlets. Our glass partitions helped reinvigorate this extraordinary building in the heart of Glasgow. Working alongside architects Stallan Brand and main contractor AKP Scotland, we transformed the interior of this listed building into an attractive and dynamic shared office space.

From the outset there was a strong emphasis on the integration of glazed partitions in order to maximise the amount of natural light flowing through this fit-out. As a result, we installed Optima 117 Plus Shoreditch Edition single glazed partitions throughout this historic building. This focus on maximising the use of glass within the design was also reinforced by our design team’s decision to use a thinner 25mm aluminium framework to create our popular Shoreditch design. In doing so, we were able to maintain the dramatic design feature that Shoreditch Edition offers whilst enhancing the amount of light that can travel through this modern office.
With 34,440 square feet of mixed coworking and meeting space this dynamic project has rejuvenated Breckenridge House. By integrating these stylish glazed partitions, we have created a collection of contemporary flexible office spaces and meeting rooms. Furthermore, with the distinctive lattice framework, Shoreditch Edition glass partitions bring a striking, yet minimalist look to this shared workplace.
Acoustic privacy was also a key design requirement when creating this shared office environment. With impressive acoustic performance, achieving up to Rw38dB, Optima 117 Plus Shoreditch Edition partitions provide the ideal acoustic performance to fit this design. Moreover, the slimline aluminium framework is bonded to the glass meaning it retains both structural stability and acoustic performance whilst creating a dramatic aesthetic.
Equally important, we installed several dynamic doors and screens throughout the refurbishment of this landmark building in Glasgow. Furthermore, in the second-floor atrium we installed our fire rated Technishield 65 screen with Shoreditch Edition bars. This high performing fire screen provides a stylish solution that complements the contemporary design of the office perfectly. This fire screen also provides a stunning and functional addition, designed to meet the practical demands of the modern workplace. Additionally, we installed our popular Edge Symmetry Shoreditch Edition single glazed door system throughout this attractive fit-out. Furthermore, the incorporation of Shoreditch Edition handles gives a bolder, rustic aesthetic to the door frame. The double door set achieves an acoustic rating of up to Rw35dB, enhancing the acoustic privacy of this shared environment.
