Progressive and Flexible Office Spaces

Harwell Campus has a strong track record in delivering complex construction projects, including the Quadrangle development comprising Quad One and now Quad Two.

Quad Two provides four floors of Grade A offices, offering flexible accommodation for a wide range of occupiers. Amenities include a concierge reception, passenger lift, and kitchens and showers on each floor, with fit-outs tailored to individual tenant requirements. The EPC A-rated building totals 38,374 sq ft, including a third-floor suite of 7,222 sq ft with roof terrace and a prominent ground-floor suite of 2,198 sq ft.

On entering Quad Two, the calm, light-filled interior reflects a clear focus on employee health and wellbeing, a central consideration in the development of Harwell’s Quadrangle area.

Creating Healthy and Productive Work Environments

Optimising natural light, ensuring acoustic privacy and supporting adaptable ways of working were key elements of the design brief. To achieve this, Revolution 54 Plus double-glazed Shoreditch Edition partitions and Edge Symmetry Shoreditch Edition doors were specified.

These solutions were selected for their refined aesthetics and seamless integration into the modern workspace, while supporting creative, collaborative and productive working.

Meeting rooms and private work booths have been created off central open-plan areas, addressing the challenges of increased occupancy and noise levels that can impact productivity. As organisations grow, the need to support diverse ways of working becomes increasingly important.

Revolution 54 Plus Shoreditch Edition partitions complement the loft-style interior, featuring a slimline aluminium framework bonded to the glass. This retains structural stability and high acoustic performance while maximising transparency. Slimline double glazing reduces visual bulk and enhances acoustic control.

Edge Symmetry Shoreditch Edition doors allow natural light to flow throughout the space and deliver a cohesive design language with the partitioning. Their flush, precision-engineered design makes them ideal for meeting rooms and offices requiring high acoustic performance without compromising aesthetics.

Sustainable Interior Fit Out Choices

Sustainability is integral to the Quad Two development. Alongside people-focused design, Optima’s solutions support low-carbon and circular principles.

The demountable nature of Optima’s partitions and doors allows for reuse, flexibility and adaptation as tenant needs change. Systems can be dismounted, relocated or stored as space planning evolves.

Hydro CIRCAL® 75R aluminium is used in the framework, containing a minimum of 75% post-consumer scrap and offering one of the lowest carbon aluminium options available.

Aligning to Natural Surroundings for Wellbeing

Quad Two also incorporates energy-efficient systems and access to outdoor areas to support wellbeing, productivity and relaxation.

The building’s exterior continues the distinctive Quad aesthetic, with green fritted glass reflecting the surrounding landscape. Harwell’s green spaces include landscaped areas and re-wilding zones, with walking and cycling trails available to staff and visitors.

Located in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty just south of Oxford, Harwell offers a calm, traffic-free working environment where nature and cutting-edge science coexist. A wide range of facilities and social spaces are designed to inspire innovation and encourage interaction with peers and the surrounding environment.
