EcoVadis Gold for Optima! 

We are delighted to announce that we have been awarded the EcoVadis Gold Sustainability Rating 2023. This achievement is a testament to our commitment to continuously improve our sustainability performance. This fantastic accomplishment positions Optima among the top 5 percent of the 100,000 companies assessed by EcoVadis globally.

What is EcoVadis?

As a world-leading provider of business Corporate and Social Responsibility ratings, EcoVadis assesses 21 different criteria across the four sustainability themes of environment, labour and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement.

Our journey to EcoVadis Gold

Since embarking on our EcoVadis journey in 2021, we have made steady progress across the four key sustainability themes: Environment, Labour and Human Rights, Ethics, and Sustainable Procurement. Our initiatives have included installing water butts at our UK manufacturing facility to collect and re-use run-off from the factory roof, replacing our old forklift truck with a fully electric vehicle, implementing new labour and human rights policies, introducing an employee engagement survey, producing a Financial Control Framework Report, taking steps towards Cyber Essentials Plus accreditation, and implementing a Supplier Code of Conduct.

In 2022 we were awarded the EcoVadis Silver sustainability rating in recognition of our sustainability achievements. Whilst we were happy to achieve this great award, we knew we had plenty of opportunity for improvement across the business and a drive to seize the Gold award.

Achieving the EcoVadis Gold sustainability rating is a fantastic accomplishment, and we extend our gratitude to everyone involved for their hard work and dedication. The assessment is a formidable task that requires input from a large team of people across the business and we couldn’t have done it without them.

Our Gold award recognises the progress we have made across all four themes since partnering with EcoVadis. It demonstrates our commitment to continuously reviewing and improving our sustainability performance. At Optima driving sustainability and decarbonisation is part of our business strategy and achieving EvoVadis Gold is another historic milestone on our journey to sustainable development. As an ethical UK manufacturer, we are constantly looking for ways of self-improvement and looking for ways to make our industry better. We take a holistic approach to improving our sustainability performance and we understand that there is still a lot of work to be done if we are to meet our sustainability and Net Zero Carbon goals, so it’s onwards and upwards from here.
