Our state-of-the-art computer-controlled powder coating booth is now fully functional within our Bath manufacturing facility.  This opens the door to several possibilities in powder coating solutions. As a result, we now offer a great selection of textured and coloured finishes

What’s new with the manufacturing facilities?

The new state-of-the-art powder coating booth effectively adds the possibility of infusing our metals with frame colours for glass partitions. As a result, our technicians can put full focus on quality control. This cuts down the chance of human error in the painting process. In short, our new booth, integrated into our manufacturing assembly line has several benefits.

Environmental and safety

Powder coating our partition frames significantly improves the functionality of numerous processes in our facility and is also easier to handle when cleaning. Powder-coated partition frames benefit from reduced environmental impacts over those of applying liquid paint in the traditional manner, by reducing or eliminating substances harmful to both the environment and human life.

The powder coat process uses substances containing no solvents and is neither carcinogenic nor flammable thus reducing safety risks, whilst also containing zero Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs). These harmful compounds are commonly present within liquid paints and are associated with nose and throat discomfort, headaches, nausea, vomiting, nose bleeding, fatigue, and dizziness amongst other ailments. VOCs also contribute to the formation of Tropospheric ozone and smog. Furthermore, we have recently insulated the roof structures of the curing and drying ovens in our powder coat line as part of our energy management and heat retention initiatives.

Using powder coatings on our products greatly reduces the on-site emissions of VOCs and other carcinogenic compounds such as formaldehyde. We take extra precautions to keep our employees safe when powder coating our aluminium. Our trained personnel wear protective suits, as well as goggles, masks and gloves when manning these impressive powder coating booths.

Durability

Powder coating proves more resistant to chemicals, weather and corrosion than liquid paints.

As a result, this makes powder coated aluminium considerably more resistant to chipping, scratching and being buffed. This is due to the melting technique put into motion when heating the aluminium. This creates a resistant barrier against damage.

Disposal

We have also installed a new cyclone powder recovery unit. Our technicians use the latest in powder recovery technology to recover and reuse powder. Specialist contractors collect waste powder for correct disposal. We minimise colour changes by using a new hand spray booth which allows small qualities of  ‘non-standard’ frame colours for glass partitions to be coated for bespoke projects.
