For their latest student accommodation development, Student Castle chose the historic city of Oxford. Nicknamed the ‘City of Dreaming Spires’, there’s no wonder why they chose the heart of such an iconic location. The contemporary building features modern bedrooms, state-of-the-art facilities and private study areas created using our glass partitions.

Understandably, Oxford is well known for its prestigious university, the oldest university in the English-speaking world. Students travel from all over the world to study here and take in the culture of the city, significantly the stunning medieval architecture. Working alongside architects, Francis-Jones Morehen Thorp and main contractors, Bespoke Construction Services, we have created a contemporary and stylized space that both contrasts and compliments the historic city. Student Castle pride themselves on their unique style, with their latest development being no exception to that.
Without a doubt, the balance between work and life is important. The communal and study areas of Student Castle have certainly found this balance. Located close to the main entrance and reception area, the private study rooms can be seen from outside as well as upon entering the building. Kinetic Aero sliding doors with Shoreditch Edition banding create a signature look. Using glass partitions to form the private study areas means the flow of natural light is continuous, an important factor in student well-being. Additionally, the use of sliding glass doors is ideal for space saving, whilst also adding to the design. As well as this, the Kinetic systems provide acoustic privacy, meaning students can study in the private rooms and socialize in the break-out area in tandem, without disrupting the other.
Undeniably, the addition of glass partitions is a simple and effective choice for any design. In this case, the private study areas developed using the glass partitions are both efficient and key in creating the style of the fit-out. Moreover, the Shoreditch Edition banding depicts the sort after ‘loft’ vibe, resulting in the overall feel of the space being industrial and modern, perfect for the current generation of students. The rooms vary in colours, some with warm tones, some with cool, and each with matching furniture to further fit the scheme. They are both inviting and modern in design.
All in all, we’re proud to have added to the outstanding architecture in Oxford. Furthermore, with glass partitions, contrasting dark frames and industrial vibes, Student Castle’s latest development is the perfect encapsulation of modern architecture.
